About the Role

Responsibilities

• Take overall responsibility for the accounting function and client portfolio
• Lead, coach and develop the Cyprus accounting team (8 employees) and manage the external accounting team in Georgia
• Plan workloads, allocate responsibilities, monitor performance and ensure consistent standards across both teams
• Act as a senior accounting contact for clients, handling technical queries, service issues and escalations
• Oversee bookkeeping, period-end close, bank and balance-sheet reconciliations, receivables, payables and management accounts
• Review journals, supporting schedules and complex transactions, resolving discrepancies and ensuring accounting files are complete and accurate
• Oversee VAT, VIES, payroll, PAYE, Social Insurance, GHS/GESY and other relevant statutory and employer compliance requirements
• Maintain a central compliance calendar and ensure all statutory and client deadlines are met
• Take ownership of the annual accounts timetable, coordinating year-end preparation and working closely with external auditors through to completion and signed financial statements
• Ensure year-end files are audit-ready and manage audit queries, adjustments, approvals and outstanding points
• Establish strong review procedures, internal controls and consistent file standards across both teams
• Report to senior management on deadlines, workload, team capacity, quality issues, audit progress and client matters
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting workflows, automation and data quality using Odoo, eSoft and other relevant systems
• Monitor changes in accounting, tax and compliance requirements and ensure these are reflected in team procedures

Requirements

• Recognised professional accounting qualification such as ACCA, ACA or CPA, or equivalent senior-level accounting experience
• At least 7 years of relevant accounting experience, including substantial recent experience in Cyprus
• At least 3 years of experience managing an accounting team or function
• Proven experience within an accounting practice, audit firm, corporate services environment or similar multi-client setting
• Strong knowledge of Cyprus accounting, VAT, payroll and employer compliance
• Good experience with year-end accounts, financial reporting and external audit coordination
• Proven ability to lead and develop teams, allocate and review work and manage performance across different locations
• Excellent client communication skills, sound judgement and a proactive approach to problem-solving
• Strong Excel and accounting-system skills with excellent attention to detail and discretion
• Fluent professional English is essential. Greek is a strong advantage, while German is beneficial
• Experience with Odoo and/or eSoft, process automation, international client portfolios or outsourced-team management is an advantage
