About the Role
The Cyprus Institute (CyI) is a European non-profit, science- and technology-oriented educational and research institution based in Nicosia, with five research centres (CaSToRC, STARC, EEWRC, CARE-C and STeDI-RC). The Environmental Observations Department of the CARE-C Centre of Excellence is hiring a Post-doctoral Research Fellow, full-time, at the Athalassa Campus in Nicosia. You will contribute to the IM4CA and EMME-CARE EU projects, focusing on measuring, detecting and quantifying atmospheric greenhouse gas emissions — including mobile (car and drone-based) measurements and field campaigns in Cyprus and abroad. Initial appointment: 12 months, renewable depending on performance and funding. Salary band CYI4 — starting gross annual salary from €37,688.69 (CYI4.1) to €43,142.58 (CYI4.4). Responsibilities
- Plan and run national and international field campaigns with mobile (car/drone) methane measurements at emitting facilities
- QA/QC processing of methane concentration data and inverse modelling to quantify emissions
- Publish and present results at international conferences and in scientific journals
Requirements
- PhD in Atmospheric Sciences or related field
- Field operation of state-of-the-art GHG analysers following international SOPs
- Experience in GHG emission modelling and quantification
- Experience with mobile measurement strategies and emission-focused field campaigns
- Proficiency in Matlab and/or Python
- Greek is an advantage
