About the Role
CareerFinders is seeking a Senior Accountant to join an established owner and operator of commercial real estate assets across Europe, based in Limassol. This role primarily supports the Financial Controller in managing the monthly accounting close for several companies across EU jurisdictions. The Senior Accountant ensures accounting records are complete, accurate, and submitted within agreed deadlines. The ideal candidate will be ACA, ACCA, or CPA qualified (or at least at the final stages) with 3+ years of experience in a similar accounting role. Strong knowledge of financial accounting, month-end close, reconciliations, and financial reporting is essential. Experience with SAP Business One and LucaNet is an advantage. Excellent verbal and written communication skills in Greek and English are required.
Responsibilities
- Support the Financial Controller in managing the monthly accounting close for several companies across EU jurisdictions
- Prepare and review management accounts, financial statements and internal financial reports
- Perform and review monthly balance sheet reconciliations, investigate outstanding items
- Manage and reconcile intercompany balances, ensuring transactions are accurately recorded and discrepancies are resolved
- Prepare annual financial statements and supporting documentation for audits
- Support the Financial Controller during year-end close and external audits, including preparing schedules and responding to queries
- Assist and cooperate with external accountants, auditors and tax advisors
- Assist in monitoring the Company's loans and financing arrangements, including compliance with financial covenants
- Assist in the preparation and submission of VAT, CIT and other statutory and regulatory returns
- Support the preparation and submission of quarterly forecasts and annual budgets
- Assist with cash flow management and forecasting, monitoring receipts and payments
- Ensure the timely payment of company obligations to suppliers, tax authorities and other parties, while monitoring expenditure
- Ensure appropriate controls are in place, for compliance requirements such as SOX
- Support the local Finance Director and Financial Controller on accounting, tax and financial matters in relevant meetings
- Guide, supervise and support junior members of the finance team, including providing training and reviewing their work
- Support with ad-hoc financial analysis, reporting and other finance-related requests
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Management or a related field
- Member of a recognised professional accounting body (ACA/ACCA/CPA) or at final stages of qualification
- Minimum 3 years' relevant experience in a similar accounting role
- Strong knowledge of MS Office, particularly Excel, and Caseware
- Experience with SAP Business One and LucaNet would be an advantage
- Strong knowledge of financial accounting, month-end close, reconciliations and financial reporting
- Experience working with multiple entities and/or EU jurisdictions would be an advantage
- Excellent command of English and Greek, both written and verbal
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a hands-on and results-oriented approach
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues across different functions and levels of seniority
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise competing deadlines
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
