About the Role
On behalf of our client, a leading Data Center and Cloud Hosting Provider with expanding operations in Cyprus, we are seeking to recruit a Systems Engineer to join their growing team based in Larnaca. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the design, implementation, and maintenance of complex infrastructure projects across data center locations, including virtualization clusters, dedicated server platforms, storage, backup, and high-availability systems. This role involves acting as a senior escalation point, driving automation, and working closely with various teams to deliver robust solutions.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of complex infrastructure projects across data center locations.
- Act as the senior escalation point for server-side issues, performing in-depth troubleshooting.
- Drive automation across server provisioning, configuration, patching, and lifecycle management.
- Work closely with network operations and DevOps teams on architectures and deployment pipelines.
- Engage directly with clients to gather requirements and design tailored solutions.
- Prepare solution designs, architecture diagrams, bills of materials, and cost estimates.
- Partner with management to define, prototype, and launch new products and services.
- Evaluate new technologies, platforms, and vendors to improve infrastructure.
- Establish and enforce standards for security, system hardening, monitoring, and documentation.
- Mentor engineers and promote knowledge-sharing and best practices.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in systems engineering or infrastructure roles, with at least 3 years at a senior level.
- Expert-level Linux administration skills and solid experience with Windows Server.
- Strong hands-on experience with virtualization platforms like KVM/QEMU, Proxmox, or VMware.
- Familiarity with container technologies such as Docker; Kubernetes is a plus.
- Proven experience with storage, replication, and backup technologies (e.g., RAID, ZFS, Ceph).
- Proficiency in automation and scripting (Bash, Python, Ansible).
- Good understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, firewalls).
- Experience with monitoring tools such as Zabbix, Prometheus, or Grafana.
- Demonstrated experience in solution design or pre-sales.
- Excellent communication skills in English.
