Working in Greece — what to expect
Greece's average full-time gross salary sits around €1,500 a month, below Cyprus, but living costs outside Athens are lower too. Employment contracts are registered through the ERGANI system, the standard working week is 40 hours, and employees receive statutory holiday allowances. EU and EEA citizens need no work permit; non-EU candidates need an employer-backed permit, which is most common in tourism, shipping and specialist technology roles.
